rent Harassment - LIGHT'S HOUSE

Harassment, Stalking & Privacy

If any person knows you do not wish for contact and yet continues to call, write, send you items or come to your home or place of employment against your wishes, or if you feel intimidated, you do have legal recourse.

Here in the U.S., you may file a
harassment complaint with your local police. You will need the person's home address and phone number. The police will file the complaint, and will have the complaint filed in their city. They will get a visit from the police serving them with a notice of no contact, stating that if another complaint is filed then they are breaking the law and can be fined or go to prison.

Law enforcement can also advise you about matters related to safety and discerning whether or not there is a serious safety matter at hand. Do not hesitate to stop by your local station and ask for help if your parent is harassing, stalking, threatening or otherwise intimidating you.

You have the right to be assisted. In the event you feel you are not receiving sufficient assistance, you have the option of contacting your local district attorney or prosecutor's office. Should that fail to resolve the matter, your state attorney general can be contacted.
